MMY was founded in 2015 following the tragic killing of three young Muslim students — Deah, Yusor, and Razan — in Chapel Hill, NC. It was also a response to anti-Muslim sentiment surrounding the construction of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro. MMY was created to help local youth overcome hatred and alienation, and to show them how beautiful and welcoming their community truly is.
